Important information about what the museum offers.
Situated right beside the Sankey canal and just a stone’s throw from St Helens train station, The World of Glass offers a uniquely flexible venue with something for everyone. Alongside our visitor attraction, we provide a wide range of conferencing and meeting solutions, plus welcoming spaces for community events, classes, and creative gatherings. For something a little different, our quirky Tank House No. 9 is perfect for standout events. With an on-site café and a relaxing canal side garden, The World of Glass is an attractive, convenient, and memorable venue for all kinds of occasions
The World of Glass offers three versatile hireable spaces—a bright gallery, a flexible suite, and a fully equipped auditorium—ideal for meetings, events, workshops, and performances.
In 2009, the city of Stuttgart extended a generous gesture of friendship to St Helens by gifting a specially designed vine garden beside The World of Glass. The vines planted are of the variety known in Germany as Spätburgunder (commonly called Pinot Noir). The garden’s design honours Stuttgart’s iconic vine terraces while drawing inspiration from St Helens’ industrial glass heritage.
Local nature enthusiast Brian Seddon has embraced the garden’s spirit of connection and growth. He has collected vine cuttings from the garden and is nurturing them at Thatto Heath train station, extending the original gift into the wider community.
Brian also builds and tends bee hives at venues such as Shakespeare North, and in 2021 he developed a partnership with Knauf to create hives at Ravenhead Dam, where 100,000 honeybees now pollinate wildflowers and fruit trees across the region.
