Important information about what the museum offers.
Our venue is super flexible with an option that suits most people. Alongside our visitor attraction we offfer a variety of conferencing and meeting solutions. There are spaces for community events or classes and options even for quirky events in our Tank House no 9. Add in a cafe and canal side garden and you will see that The World of Glass is an attractive venue all round.
There are 4 hireable spaces in The World of Glass. Reflections suite is our largest holding up to 200 guests. Our other three rooms hold up to 80 people respectively.
In 2009, the city of Stuttgart extended a generous gesture of friendship to St Helens by gifting a specially designed vine garden beside The World of Glass. The vines planted are of the variety known in Germany as Spätburgunder (commonly called Pinot Noir). The garden’s design honours Stuttgart’s iconic vine terraces while drawing inspiration from St Helens’ industrial glass heritage.
Local nature enthusiast Brian Seddon has embraced the garden’s spirit of connection and growth. He has collected vine cuttings from the garden and is nurturing them at Thatto Heath train station, extending the original gift into the wider community.
Brian also builds and tends bee hives at venues such as Shakespeare North, and in 2021 he developed a partnership with Knauf to create hives at Ravenhead Dam, where 100,000 honeybees now pollinate wildflowers and fruit trees across the region.
