Earth into Light

'Earth into Light' is the heritage gallery at The World of Glass

St. Helens is not just pies and rugby. Did you know that St Helens is one of the most famous glassmaking centres in the world?

It was also home to: Greenall & Whitley Brewery, Pilkington Glass, An extensive coal mining industry - part of the industrial powerhouse Beecham Pills - the cure-all solution from Victorian times onwards, Saints Rugby League Football team and Royal Doulton Pottery.

See and hear its history come to life.

Listen to stories from people who lived here nearly a hundred years ago.

Visit our Victorian schoolroom, an old glassmaker's parlour and the type of living room Thomas Beecham senior would have lived in and realise how much easier life is for us today.
