The Enigmatic Landscape
27th July until 7th September in
The Godfrey Pilkington Gallery
Landscape is an overloaded term in art; it can be a metaphor on so many levels, physical and spiritual. Artist, David Grimbleby shows an evolution from landscape as a physical tangible domain that leads to a more surprising, deceptive and unfamiliar narrative. Images of overlooked, quiet public footpaths, stiles, footbridges, copses, ruined and neglected buildings and field corners that can be found in many English landscapes. The surreal narrative is brought about by found ephemeral images mostly from common sources of magazines set in places that are real, not meta-physical or imagined. David has brought together oil, ink, gouache, collage and handmade papers to create this fascinating exhibition.
Women

Cases on the Mezzanine Level
The role of women in society has changed dramatically. Not so long ago it was thought that a woman's place was in the home and to look after her man, now we have women running global businesses and countries. This exhibition looks at how the role of women has changed over the decades.
